Cars Cake Part 1
The pictures in this post are of this particular cake as it left my house last night. It was not complete...but almost. It won't be used until tomorrow, so there will be toy characters and long star candles added for the party itself.
I was promised pictures of the final product. I will post them when I get them.

Best vantage point to see everything, including the tires and traffic cones on top.

Candle Cake No. 2
This is the cake that was originally comissioned that inspired my "Cake On Fire". I do think this one turned out very cute, but I think I like the contrasting colors on the other one better. Although, you can't really go wrong with M&M's.
I always get a little nervous when I'm asked to write on a cake. You would understand if you ever saw my handwriting. This one turned out pretty good though.

Polka Dot...again
Now, I know that I do a lot of cakes with polka dots, but really, what can't the polka dot do???
They are appropriate for everything from birthdays, to weddings, to baby showers. Dress them up, dress them down, make them chic, make them silly. I am convinced they will never go out of style (says the girl who wore leg warmers over her jeans in elementary school).
So here is another baby shower cake, sporting one of my favorite color combos in the ever-so-versatile polka dot.

I threw in the flowers for a little variety.

FIRE!!! FIRE!!! FIRE!!!
You know the age old joke at the aging birthday boy-or-girls' party, that their cake is going to set off the smoke detector....right?
Well, this one just might!
I had a friend request a simple cake that just had candle images around the cake and HAPPY BIRTHDAY on top (a different cake I will post later this week) so I took it a step further with my Father-in-Law's birthday cake and did the "Cake On Fire".
I lOVE IT!!!
It isn't often that I do a cake entirely WITHOUT fondant, but this one is 100% fondant-free. Instead there is just lots and lots of frosting...you're welcome Steve.

Baby Lizzy
This is my first baby blessing cake.
It is a special day for my darling little niece, baby Lizzy. She came down with her family this weekend to be blessed so all of her extended family could be here for it.
I wanted a cake that just said "baby girl".

Name That Cake
So I've checked out a few other cake blogs where they walk you through the process from start to finish, with beautiful pictures of clean kitchens and flawless examples.
This is not that. These are real pictuers of a real (messy) working kitchen and a truley questionable looking piece of "art" that doesn't really come together until the very end.
So stick with me here as I take you on a photo journey through the making of my daughters birthday cake.
THE CHALLENGE: See how many pictures it takes before you know the subject of the cake. (hint, it's NOT an erotic cake!)
