Mario Cart

In case it isn't obvious, I like to watch Ace of Cakes. I have always wanted to try the gum paste that they use all the time to make figurines. I finally did so with this cake.

As it turns out, I don't really like it. It's too ... gummy.

Littlest Pet Shop

I feel like I've been kinda lazy with my cakes lately. I've decorated a lot of traditionally shaped cakes.

So when I was asked to do a Pet Shop cake for a 5-year-olds birthday party, I really tried hard to think of a way to make it 3-D.

That didn't happen. If you have seen Pet Shop toys, they are like giant suckers! teeny-tiny bodies, tooth-pick necks, and an enormous head. There's just no way.

Instead, I made a darling (in my opinion) elephant on a polka dot cake.

Wonder Woman

This cake should be ordered by every father for their corresponding mother for each and every Mothers Day.

However, this is a birthday cake for a young girl.

View from the top.

It's all in the details.

Indiana Jones

Two years ago I made a cake for my son's birthday that was supposed to be Indiana Jones' hat. This was before I was introduced to fondant.

I thought it turned out really well, all things condisered. The proportions were great and it tasted delicious. But it was a HUGE cake.

Yesterday I made another one but I used fondant this time. The proportions are more cartoonish this time (because I didn't feel like making it quite so large this time), and covering a hat shape with fondant is a BEAST, but I'm very happy with the finished product.

For, Four, Fore!!!

I don't know how you spell this particular golf term.

I donated a custom cake to the elementary school for their Blockwalk Fundraiser to sell at silent auction. The winner ordered a golf cake for their husband's birthday.

Not being a golfer, I think it looks a lot like a golf course!

Congradulations!

Sock Monkey

I love it when someone gives me a theme or design that I can "simply" copy.

That's what I got here.

I did use a dreaded shaped cake pan, but I made it so much more than average with this adorable sock monkey.
I was not expecting it to be as time consuming as it was, but overall, it was totally worth it.
I LOVE IT!
